Faith that Bears Fruit

Paul loves the Philippians deeply “with the affection of Christ,” which shows the close Christ-centered bond among true believers. Paul prays that they abound in love, not just in feelings but in a love that grows in knowledge and discernment (for all the situations that may occur). This is so that they may live purely and blamelessly, continually testing and approving what is excellent until Christ Jesus returns. The “fruit of righteousness” comes only through Him. Our righteousness is not self-made. It results from Christ at work in us.  Paul's prayer for the Philippians centers on growing in love, knowledge, and discernment. This calls us to intentionally seek growth in our relationship with Christ and in our spiritual maturity.
