Grace and Peace: Paul's Final Two Blessings to the Thessalonians
What can we learn from two letters written by a Jew named Paul to people who lived in Thessalonica under the Roman Empire 2000 years ago? We must not drive a wedge between our world and Paul’s world. We live within the realm of the New Testament in the same way that Paul did because we are participants in God’s New Covenant. God’s Word is living and active and remains true today. This means that we live in the same age as those Christians living in Thessalonica because we still face fundamental issues in life—sin, redemption, holiness, idolatry, hope, and death. Despite the differences between then and now, we all still die, and we all need the gospel when we face death. Facing the same struggles and trials, we must accept the grace and peace that comes with faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
