The Foolish Wisdom of the Cross (1 Cor. 1:18-31)

Mar 9, 2025    John Holmes

Human wisdom cannot lead us to God. God has chosen what the world considers weak, foolish, and insignificant to accomplish His purposes. Through Christ, believers receive true wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption—not by their own merit but by God’s grace alone.  Embrace the gospel of Christ, even when the world calls it foolish, and trust in God's wisdom over human understanding. Live humbly, knowing that salvation and spiritual growth come from God, not personal effort. Boast only in the Lord, give Him glory in all things, and boldly share the message of the cross, knowing its power transforms lives. The message of the cross might seem ridiculous to the world, but it’s actually God’s greatest display of power and wisdom. He doesn’t choose the strong, the rich, or the impressive—He chooses the weak, the overlooked, and the broken so no one can claim credit for what only He can do. Our worth isn’t found in what we achieve, but in what Christ has done for us, so if we boast, we boast in Him alone. Are you trusting in the wisdom of the world or the wisdom of God? Will you embrace the foolishness of the cross or reject it in pursuit of human pride? Trust Christ, the wisdom of God, and let Him be your righteousness.
