The Rejected Stone and Unstoppable Mercy of God: Christ Victorious, Welcomed, and Exalted Forever
Psalm 118 declares that the Lord’s covenant love triumphs through rejection and suffering, culminating in the exaltation of the rejected Stone—Jesus Christ—who brings salvation, joy, and eternal victory to all who trust Him. Though rejected by men, Jesus is the cornerstone of God’s saving work. Jesus applies this directly to Himself as the rejected but chosen cornerstone (Mt. 21:42; 1 Peter 2:4–7). Psalm 118 is a psalm of salvation, joy, and hope, fulfilled in Jesus Christ. By His steadfast love, God took on flesh and became the rejected stone—the cornerstone. His Light has come into the world, and the King has brought salvation. Christmas is not simply about sentiment—it is about salvation. The proper response is to believe, rejoice, and build your life on Christ, the cornerstone.
